* 11. Q Cal Procedure
Q-calibration must be performed from a cold system prior to any Patient Calibrations. Q-calibrations (and
consequently patient calibrations) must be repeated before an image Evaluation Series can be taken if any of
the following systems adjustments are performed:
• Collimator Adjustment or Replacement
• X-ray Tube or Tube Shock Adjustment or Replacement
• Detector or Detector Shock Adjustment or Replacement
• Plane of Rotation Alignment
• Beam On-Window Alignment
• Isocenter Alignment
• Z-Wedge Alignment
* IMPORTANT *
IF THE TUBE DOES NOT HAVE A CUP, DO NOT RUN CROSSTALK. Instead, load the crosstalk vector which
was supplied on the tape. Tape is labeled “SSD - XTALK”.
The SCCAL file containing the current crosstalk vector must reside on the disk prior to subsequent Q-CALs and
image cals. i.e., the SCCAL file which contains the crosstalk vector must be stored on tape like the
CHARACT.TB and CORXTAB.TB files for characterization tables and generator cal.
FOR HILIGHT ONLY:
BEFORE RUNNING QCAL, CHECK THE TUBE TYPE OF THE SYSTEM. IF THIS IS A D3212T or D3202T
CONTINUE ON. THE SCCAL CAN BE LOADED BY MOUNTING THE TAPE ON THE DRIVE AND TYPING
“RESTORALL”. IF THIS IS A STANDARD OR HIGH PERFORMANCE TUBE WITHOUT CUP, MAKE SURE
THE SCCAL WHICH WAS SUPPLIED WITH THE KIT IS LOADED ON THE SYSTEM. IF IT IS NOT LOADED
AT THIS POINT, YOU WILL HAVE TO RERUN QCAL AFTER LOADING IT.
System must have sat for a minimum of 1-1/2 hours without X-ray. If Q-Cal is following alignments, wait
a minimum of fifteen minutes. Tests that do not involve shooting X-rays can be completed during this
wait. This assumes you waited a minimum of 1-1/2 hours between Gencal and Alignments.
Run the program as usual. You will notice that there are an extra 10 heat scans to run.
After Q-Cal is completed, the Automatic ZC (Z Check) program is automatically run to check the
vectors.
