10. After the scout scan of step 9 is completed, select Axial Scan from the group - prompts at the bottom of the
screen.
11. Graphically prescribe the following axial scans from the scout scan of step 9:
(a) At the Axial Menu, select option #4 (View Scout ) to display the scout scan of step 9. Omit this step
if the scout image is already displayed.
(b) At the Axial Menu, select option #2 (Graphic Prescription).
(c) Use the trackball to move the line cursor just above the notched portion of the teflon end of the
alignment tool where the first axial scan will be initiated. Press the Deposit Cursor key.
(d) Again use the trackball to move the line cursor just below the notched portion of the teflon end and
press the Deposit Cursor key where the last scan will be initiated. Press the Deposit Cursor key.
(e) On the Graphic Prescription Screen, enter:
---Scan Spacing: 1.5 mm.
---Thickness: 1.5 mm.
---120 kV, 100 mA.
There will be about 6 slices prescribed.
12. Proceed to Axial (option 3 at the Standard Rx Menu). Enter values for the following parameters:
Scan FOV: S (small)
Display FOV: 12.8 cm. for 512 Matrix.
Center:0,0(cm).
13. Scan the teflon end through the notched section at 1.5 mm. increments.
14. Enter the Display Program and display images at a window of 100 and a level of 500. Select the image with
the best cross hair pattern as shown in Ill. 6-10-4.
15. Manually move the table, using the table pushbuttons, to the location which displays the best crosshair
pattern (Ill. 6-10-4).
16. Align all laser beams to the respective points on the tool in accordance with Ill. 6-10-2. For example, adjust
the alignment lights in the following order:
(a) Verify that the table and the gantry are properly aligned per section 11.
(b) Align the Internal Axial Lights (left and right) to the notch in the teflon end (Ill. 6-10-2) per section
10.5.
(c) Align the Sagittal Light along the top white stripe of the tool (Ill. 6-10-2) per section 10.6.
