Failure points are:
1) Cable break
2) Loss of ± 12 volts at drivers in AP (IOC) or S140 (HIB)
3) Loss of + 5v at AP
4) Wrong baud rate settings on IOC card (DIP switch)
5) Wrong baud rate setting or device select on HIB (DIP switches)
6) Bad RS232 driver / receiver IC’s on IOC or HIB
7) Failure of HIB or IOC
8) Additional 68000 code (download of mode bits)
7) ADDITIONAL 68000 CODE DOWNLOAD
Description:
The RS232 serial link is being used to transfer data into public memory. This data contains 68000 code
that will be executed following the deadstart tests. A failure in this section is the same as a failure during
the second half of the first deadstart RESET.
Error conditions:
Error messages seen from failure of serial data transfer:

*E* ’6809 COMMAND FAILED’, UNABLE TO ESTABLISH COMMUNICATION WITH AP

Messages of this type will only occur when the MASTER processor is involved in a transfer. The
failure points are:
a) MASTER card failure (check RESET capacitor polarity)
b) PUBLIC memory failure
c) RARE - Loss of clock to MASTER card from IOC (backpanel or IOC failure)
d) RARE - Hang of the public bus by another card - DASIOP,DGIOP,SLAVE,IOC,SMP,
BACKPLANE
