6-5 COMMUNICATIONS FAILURES AND THEIR SOLUTIONS
Reboot and bring to “R” Level.
If system will not come up to “R”, remove HIB and try again.
If system comes up to ”R” with the HIB removed, replace the HIB.
If system will still not come up to “R” with HIB removed, look for an S140 or BMC/ERCC problem.
5) With the system at “R” level (and UPSYS or UP has been run), go into DIR CTDS and run UPAP:

UPAP
Proper response should be:
***RESET COMPLETE***
PASSED MASTER ROM TEST
PASSED MASTER PRIVATE RAM TEST
PASSED MASTER PUBLIC MEMORY TEST
PASSED MASTER TIMER TEST
PASSED SLAVE CP TEST
PASSED SLAVE ROM TEST
PASSED SLAVE PRIVATE RAM TEST
PASSED SLAVE PUBLIC MEMORY TEST
***RESET COMPLETE***
PASSED IOP0 TEST
PASSED PLS HEAD 0 TEST
PASSED BACKPROJECTOR CONTROLLER TEST
IOP’S ARE = DAS CHI ---
***DEADSTARTS COMPLETE***
A) If system fails to complete DEADSTARTS or the response looks like:
***BREAKOUT POLLING 6809
***ERROR RECEIVED IN RESPONSE TO ESCAPE
a) There is a problem with the serial link between the AP and the S140. Recheck that the DGIO
cable is securely connected to both the AP side and the DG side. Be sure that the connector
screws are tightened. Try Deadstarts again.
b) If the cables did not correct the problem, replace the HIB and try Deadstarts again.
c) If the problem still exists, replace the IOC board.
B) If the words DAS or CHI do not appear at the end of deadstarts, refer to Section 1 (IOP REPORT) of
this manual to isolate the problem.
C) All the Deadstarts tests should now pass.
