GE MEDICAL SYSTEMS CT 9800 QUICK SYSTEM
Rev. 3 Direction 18000
8-6-22
6-4 PERTINENT NOTES
1. Use extra precaution when removing the Main Memory “MAXI” board from the chassis. Remove both the
Maxi and the MMC together to avoid damaging the rework wires on the back of the board.
2. RAPI under WTERM sends a simple RESET to the AP (same as RAP) and then downloads mode bits to the
gate arrays. It does the same thing as deadstarts except that it does not run any diagnostics. RAPI offers no
advantage over Deadstarts and should NOT be used.
CAUTION: DO NOT RUN RAPI IN PLACE OF UPAP FOR SETTING MODE BITS. GE SOFTWARE
IS TESTED WITH UPAP, AND REVISIONS HAVE TAKEN PLACE WITH REGARDS TO
DEADSTART MODE BITS. THE PROPER MICROCODE MAY NOT BE DOWNLOADED
WITH RAPI.
3. EXTREME CAUTION should be used when installing the S140 backplane connector to the HIB board slot. If
you are one pin off, Sever damage to the HIB and DGIOP boards will result. In some cases, the BMC/ERCC
terminator has also been damaged. Numerous boards have already been returned (from FCO upgrade sites)
with this apparent problem. This very costly mistake should be avoided!
CAUTION: BE ABSOLUTELY SURE THE HIB CONNECTOR AT THE S140 BACKPLANE IS
PROPERLY INSTALLED BEFORE APPLYING POWER TO THE S140 OR THE AP.
FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE HIB AND DGIOP CIRCUIT
BOARDS! A VERY COSTLY MISTAKE!
