d. Close the pack cover on the drive, and press the START switch on the disk drive control panel (reference
Illustration 4-3-5). Verify that the READY LED lights after about 30 seconds to show that the heads have
loaded.
2. Format the scratch pack and flag bad blocks.
This procedure will destroy any data or software on the pack. If there is any patient data on the pack, it
should be archived before formatting. It will be necessary to reload software after formatting.
a. Ensure the pack is mounted and spinning, the READY LED on the drive is lit, and the drive is WRITE
ENABLED.
b. Mount and load the DTOS tape. If necessary, refer to DTOS Vol #1, Part 1, for details.
c. At the prompt (==i), observe the following, and type the underlined responses (if a line printer is available,
and a print-out desired, type a 5 ’CR’ in response to the statement “SET SWPAK...”):
