CHAPTER 4: SETPOINTS CONTROL
869 MOTOR PROTECTION SYSTEM – INSTRUCTION MANUAL 4–329
Restart Delay
The Restart Delay feature is used to ensure that a certain amount of time passes between
the time a motor is stopped and the restarting of that motor. This timer feature can be very
useful for some process applications or motor considerations. If a motor is on a down-hole
pump, after the motor stops, the liquid can fall back down the pipe and spin the rotor
backwards. It is very undesirable to start the motor at this time.
The Restart Delay inhibit lockout will remain active (it may be used as a backspin timer)
when the Emer
gency Restart input is asserted.
The status of the Restart Delay element (including the time) is stored into a non-volatile
memory
and remains in the memory after the power is removed from the 869. When the
power is restored, the Restart Delay element continues working normally using the
information collected before the power loss if the real time clock worked properly during
the power loss.
