Why does my Grizzly G0752 vibrate so much?
    • D
      duncanallisonAug 15, 2025
Excessive vibration in your Grizzly Lathe can stem from several issues. It could be due to an unbalanced workpiece – try re-installing it as centered as possible with the spindle bore. Another cause might be the workpiece hitting a stationary object, in which case you should immediately stop the lathe and correct the interference. Loose or damaged V-belts, misaligned V-belt pulleys, or an unbalanced/improperly installed chuck or faceplate can also contribute to vibration. Check and adjust the change gears to establish backlash, and inspect for worn or broken gears. Finally, the spindle bearings might be at fault, requiring a reset of the spindle bearing preload or replacement of worn bearings.

What to do if my Grizzly Lathe carriage will not feed or is hard to move?
    • A
      Andrew HillAug 18, 2025
If the carriage on your Grizzly Lathe is difficult to move or won't feed, several factors could be responsible. Start by checking if the quick-change gears are fully engaged and adjust the gear dials if necessary. Ensure the half nut lever is disengaged for manual feeding and that the carriage lock bolt is fully released. Also, clear away any chips that have accumulated on the bedways and re-lubricate them. If the gibs are too tight, slightly loosen the gib screws. Lastly, a broken gear or shear pin could be the culprit, requiring replacement.

How to fix bad surface finish on Grizzly G0752?
    • G
      garciaseanAug 21, 2025
A poor surface finish on your Grizzly Lathe can be caused by a few things. First, check if you're using the correct spindle speed and feed rate, and adjust as needed. Dull or poorly selected tooling can also be the culprit, so try sharpening your tooling or choosing a better tool for the job. Ensure that your tool height is aligned with the spindle centerline. Lastly, check for excessive play in the gibs and tighten them if necessary.
  • R
    Randall MullinsAug 25, 2025
Why is my Grizzly G0752 Lathe cutting tool vibrating excessively?
    • B
      Brian CurtisAug 25, 2025
Excessive vibration of the cutting tool or machine components during cutting with your Grizzly Lathe can arise from several sources. Ensure the tool holder is sufficiently tight and free from debris. Reduce the amount the cutting tool sticks out of the tool holder to no more than 1/4 of its total length for better support. Adjust the gibs on the affected component. Check if the cutting tool is dull and replace or resharpen it if necessary. Finally, verify that you are using the correct spindle speed and feed rate.

    Linda CortezAug 27, 2025
What to do if cross slide on my Grizzly G0752 Lathe is hard to move?
    • M
      Michael BlackAug 27, 2025
If the cross slide, compound rest, or carriage feed handwheel on your Grizzly Lathe is hard to move, it could be due to several reasons. The dovetail ways might be loaded with shavings, dust, or grime, so cleaning and re-lubricating them is a good first step. Check if the gib screws are too tight and loosen them slightly if needed. Also, ensure the backlash setting isn't too tight and loosen it slightly if it is. Finally, make sure the bedways are properly lubricated.
  • C
    Charles KellerAug 30, 2025
What causes a tapered workpiece on my Grizzly Lathe?
    • M
      melissa20Aug 30, 2025
A tapered workpiece on your Grizzly Lathe is often caused by the headstock and tailstock not being properly aligned with each other. Re-align the tailstock to the headstock spindle centerline.
  • H
    Heather JonesSep 2, 2025
How to fix sloppy operation of cross slide on Grizzly G0752 Lathe?
    • A
      Annette RamseySep 2, 2025
If the cross slide, compound rest, or carriage feed on your Grizzly Lathe feels sloppy, it could be due to a couple of issues. First, check the gibs and adjust them as necessary. Also, inspect the handwheel for looseness or excessive backlash; tighten the handwheel fasteners and adjust the handwheel backlash to a minimum.
  • M
    macktoddSep 5, 2025
Why are tapered tools hard to remove from Grizzly Lathe tailstock quill?
    • H
      Heather WiseSep 5, 2025
If a tapered tool is difficult to remove from the tailstock quill of your Grizzly Lathe, it could be for one of two reasons. First, ensure the quill is fully retracted into the tailstock by turning the quill handwheel until it forces the tapered tool out. If that doesn't work, check for contaminants on the taper; clean the taper and bore, then re-install the tool.

    shannon13Sep 8, 2025
Why won't the chuck jaws on my Grizzly Lathe move easily?
    • J
      Johnny MartinSep 8, 2025
If the chuck jaws on your Grizzly Lathe are stuck or difficult to move, it's likely due to chips lodged in the jaws or scroll plate. Remove the jaws, then clean and lubricate both the scroll plate and the jaws before replacing them.
  • T
    Tony WardSep 12, 2025
What to do if quick-change gear change dials won't shift on my Grizzly Lathe?
    • M
      Margaret DawsonSep 12, 2025
If the quick-change gear change dials on your Grizzly Lathe won't shift into position, it's likely because the gears are not aligned inside the headstock or quick change gearbox. Rotate the spindle by hand while applying light pressure on the dial until the gear falls into place.
