1. FOR YOUR SAFETY
1.1 Use according to regulations
The machine is used to prepare beverages made from
coffee beans and to heat up milk and water.
The machine is intended solely for home use. Any other use
is considered unlawful and may result in personal injury and
property damage. For safety reasons, you should read these
instructions carefully.
Guy Demarle cannot be held responsible in the event of
non-compliance with the normal instructions for use of the
machine.
DANGER : misuse of the machine can cause serious injury.
1.2 Danger due to electrical current
There is a danger of death from electric shock if the machine
or the power cord is damaged. Observe the following safety
instructions to avoid danger from electric current:
▶ Check that the voltage indicated on the rating plate
corresponds to the voltage of your local power supply.
▶ If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by
the manufacturer, its after-sales service or a qualified
technician.
▶ Unwind and straighten the cord before using the machine.
▶ Unplug the machine from the power supply in
the following cases:
• Before filling the water tank
• Before removing or reassembling any parts of the machine
• Before cleaning or maintenance
• If the machine is not working properly
• before dismantling, assembly and cleaning.
▶ Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a table or
counter or on a hot surface.
▶ Do not place the cord on the sharp edge of an object.
▶ Do not use or place the machine on a wet or hot surface.
▶ It is best not to use an extension cord.
▶ Do not use the machine if any of its parts are damaged or if
the machine does not function properly.
▶ A defective unit must only be repaired by the Guy Demarle
after-sales service to maintain the machine’s warranty.
Do not repair the machine yourself.
▶ Do not make any modifications to the machine, its
components or accessories yourself.
▶ Do not unplug the machine by pulling on the power cord.
▶ Do not immerse the machine in water or any other liquid.
▶ Do not use the machine outdoors.
1.3 Risk of burns and splashes
Steam and hot milk may escape from the nozzle at the
start of the beverage preparation process, causing parts of
the machine to become hot. Observe the following safety
instructions to avoid splashes and burns:
- Avoid letting escaping liquids and vapours come into contact
with your skin
- Do not touch the spout during operation
1.4 General safety
Observe the following safety instructions to avoid personal
injury and property damage:
• Do not put your hands inside the machine while it is
running.
• This machine should not be used by children. Keep the
machine and its cord out of the reach of children.
• Children should not play with the machine.
• Persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capa-
bilities or lack of experience and knowledge may use this
machine provided that a knowledgeable person assists
or instructs them in the use of the machine and the asso-
ciated hazards.
• Empty the water tank when the machine is not used for a
long time.
• Allow to cool before installing or removing parts and before
cleaning the machine.
• Always use cold water to make coffee. Hot water or other
liquids can damage the coffee machine
• Only grind coffee beans in the grinder.
• Unplug the machine when it is left unattended for an
extended period of time.
• Do not use the machine for purposes other than those for
which it is intended.
• Do not use the machine if the internal drip tray is not
properly fitted.
• The use of accessories not included in the box is not
recommended. This can be dangerous and should be
avoided.
