Chlorine, Free and Total, LR, continued
7.Cap and shake gently
for 20 seconds.
Note: Shaking dissipates
bubbles that may form in
samples with dissolved
gases.
Note: A pink color will
develop if chlorine is
present.
8.For free chlorine, wipe
excess liquid and
fingerprints from the
sample cell. Put the
prepared sample cell in the
cell holder and cover with
the instrument cap.
Proceed to step 10 within
one minute after adding the
DPD Free reagent.
Note: Accuracy is not
affected by undissolved
powder.
9.For total chlorine, wait
3to 6 minutes after adding
the DPD Total reagent.
After the reaction time, wipe
excess liquid and
fingerprints from the
sample cell. Put the
prepared sample in the cell
holder and cover the cell
with the instrument cap.
Proceed to step 10.
