4.2 Tyres
Only use those tyres designated in the registration documents.
Other tyre sizes may only be used with the permission of the ma-
nufacturer.
• Check tyres regularly to ensure that the tread is worn down
evenly; check tread depth; check for external damages.
• Always use the same make and model of tyres (summer or
winter tyres).
• Drive carefully on new tyres for a stretch of approx. 100 km to
enable them to develop a full road grip.
Due to the type of construction, the tyres on caravans
with a tandem axle may wear out more quickly.
4.1 Wheels
The following applies for tyre bolts:
If you are driving a new vehicle, or after changing a tyre, tighten the
wheel bolts or nuts after you have driven the rst 50 km and then
again after the following 100 km.
For your safety, do not use any tyres or xing material other than
what was originally stipulated. Wheel bolts and nuts should then be
checked regularly to ensure that they t tightly.
Tightening torque for wheel nuts and bolts:
Rim Tightening torque
Metal wheel rim 110 Nm
Light alloy rim 120 Nm
Check the tightening torques every 5,000 km or at
least once a year.
Driving to protect the tyres
• Avoid braking sharply or driving o with a racing start.
• Avoid long drives on poor roads.
• Never drive when the vehicle is overloaded.
