Fire Alarm Control Panel IQ8Control C/M
74 FB 798951.GB0 / 01.09
Important installation instructions of essernet
®
micromodules
The outgoing and return line of the essernet
®
link must always be installed separately, i.e. not in a multiple-
pair cable or cable duct. Installing them together may impair operation or, in the event of irreparable damage
to the cable/cable duct, lead to failure of the connection because of a break in the outgoing and return line.
Different over voltage protection modules have been insert for the two essernet
®
micro module types.
Always avoid installing an essernet
®
line together with lines from the power supply, motor control lines,
phase control lines or other live switch cables. Observe corresponding standards and guidelines.
Possible fault causes
Breaks or twists in the essernet
®
connection line.
Damage to the LAN cable (for the essernet
®
micro module 500 kBd) as a result of inadmissible bending
radi.
The eight coding bridges incorrectly set for the essernet
®
micro module terminal card in the Fire Alarm
Control Panel
essernet
®
address incorrectly set on the DIL switch of the essernet
®
micro module (display: SYS fault
essernet
®
control panel: xx), red LED lights up on the essernet
®
micro module.
Line too long or attenuation too high. Typical loop resistances in relation to line length: IBM cable type 1
approx. 100 ohms/km, or telephone cable I-Y (ST) n x 2 x 0.8mm approx. 70 ohms/km.
The control panel or non-identified user is in failure mode or in the process of starting, e.g. after a reset.
Control panel or essernet
®
user dead or connection line open at both ends.
See chapter “the essernet
®
Diagnostic line”.
Fault messages
The messages are only shown after switching on the essernet
®
micro module and these indications will
remain until the module is re-started.
- incorrect address setting
- hardware failure
- test mode
The messages communication error, short circuit/open line, and normal operation are only shown while the
relevant state persists
EMC fine protection
When using the essernet
®
micro module attention should be paid to the setting of the jumpers
which is required for the essernet
®
adjustment.
The overvoltage protection/the extended EMC protection must be produced using special
protection modules for the LAN cable. See fire detection technology product group catalogue.
