6 INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
Periodic inspection to check the equipment's effectiveness and resistance is essential to
ensure the user's safety.
The equipment must be inspected at least once a year. A competent person must inspect
this equipment, as per the instructions (see “Inspection sheet”).
After every periodic inspection, complete the sheet. Inspections must be more frequent, as
directed by the regulations in force, if the device is used frequently or in harsh environmen-
tal conditions (Table 3). It is your responsibility to keep this sheet up to date and in a safe
place. If there are no entries on the identification sheet, the product will be considered not to
have been maintained and no warranty will be provided by the manufacturer. Check that the
product markings are legible.
CAUTION: Always wear gloves when inspecting cable lifelines; broken strands can cause
injury!
CAUTION: Do not let go of the lifeline and let it retract on its own; always maintain tension
while it retracts!
