4.3 Carrier Roller Removal and Installation
Before attempting to repair or replace any conveyor components, be sure the
power to the controls is locked out to prevent premature or accidental start-up.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury, equipment
damage or death may result.
4.3.1 Inspection
Follow the procedure below to inspect the carrier rollers.
1. The carrier rollers should not bind in the frame. Make sure the rollers have 1/16 to
1/8-inch end play.
2. If the rollers are too tight, make sure the between frame (BF) dimension is correct.
3. Make sure the frame and bracket are not bent, and adjust as necessary.
4. If the roller is free in the frame, but still sluggish in operation, replace the roller.
4.3.2 Removal and Installation
Follow the procedures below to remove and reinstall the carrier rollers.
1. Turn off power and lockout/tagout all power supply to the conveyor.
2. Disconnect the air supply and exhaust air from the zone actuators, dropping the
chain tracks and driver pad away from the carrier rollers.
3. Use an appropriate tool to push in the spring loaded axle in the roller, freeing the
axle from the frame.
4. Lift the end of the roller clear of the side frame.
5. Remove the disengaged roller entirely from the frame section.
6. Insert the axle of the replacement roller through the hexagonal hole in the side frame
(axle end that will not push in).
