The
Serial
Port
The
serial
port
is
on
the
4934A’s
right
side,
above
the
AC
connector.
Your
unit
will
have
a
serial
port
if
a
200
kHz
option
is
installed.
This
port
is
used
for
remote
control
(see
page
7-1)
and
for
downloading
software
(see
Software
Downloading,
page
6-1).
Serial
Port
T^pe
The
serial
port
is
a
DB-9S
(9-pin
socket)
connector.
The
4934A
acts
a
DTE
device;
if
you
are
connecting
to
a
DCE
device
you
can
use
a
straight-
through
cable
(see
Cable
Pinout,
page
7-3).
To
connect
another
DTE
device,
a
null-modem
must
be
used.
The
pinout
of
the
serial
port
is
as

Rates
The
serial
port
supports
the
following
baud
rates:
300,1200,2400,9600,19200,
and
38400.
Note
that
38400
baud
is
only
available
for
software
downloading.
The
4934A
always
defaults
to
9600
baud
at
power
up.
