DSP (Disable Saving
Parameter).
A DSP
bit
of one (1) specifies
that
the
Target will
not
save
the
MODE
SELECT
parameters.
VU {Vendor Unique}. This
bit
must
be set
to
zero (0).
Defect List Length. This field specifies
the
total
length in bytes of
the
defect descriptor
that
follows. A sector number of
FFFFFFFFH
indicates
that
the
entire
track
will
be
reallocated.

Each defect descriptor specifies
the
location of a defect. Each descriptor is comprised of
the
cylinder number of
the
defect,
the
head number of
the
defect,
and
either
the
number of bytes
from index
to
the
defect, or
the
defective sector number.
The
Target will reeturn CHECK
COMDITION if
the
defect descriptors are not in ascending order.
The
most significant
part
of
the
address is
the
cylinder number.
The
least significant
part
of
the
address is either
the
number of bytes from index
to
the
defect, or
the
defective sector number, depending on
the
format chosen. More
than
one block may be affected by each defect descriptor.
A defect bytes from index of defective sector number of
FFFFFFFF(h)
indicates
that
the
entire
track
will
be
reallocated.
