The Housekeeping page
Select Housekeeping from the HP StoreOnce menu item to display current housekeeping activity
as two graphs: Load and Jobs.
There are four tabs that display housekeeping statistics for: Overall, Libraries, Shares and StoreOnce
Catalyst.
Once on the Housekeeping page users with an Admin login can also configure blackout windows
for housekeeping.
IMPORTANT: Housekeeping is an important process in order to maximize the deduplication
efficiency of the appliance and, as such, it is important to ensure that it has enough time to complete.
Running backup, restore, replication and Catalyst Store operations with no break (i.e. 24 hours a
day) will result in housekeeping never being able to complete. This is a complex subject. We
strongly recommend that you read Best Practices for VTL, NAS, StoreOnce Catalyst and Replication
implementations that is available on http:www.hp.com/support/manuals for more detailed guidance.
Housekeeping graph
Housekeeping graphs can be displayed as a total across all devices by selecting the Overall tab.
Alternatively, the housekeeping graphs for individual device types can be shown by selecting one
of the three device types tabs, and then selecting a particular device within that type. This allows
you to display housekeeping information for a particular Virtual Tape Library, NAS share or Catalyst
Store.
Select the required tab to display the Load and Jobs graphs.
Load: shows you the outstanding number of housekeeping jobs (sampled on an hourly basis).
If within each hourly sample period all jobs are being processed, this graph will show very
little load (almost zero). If this graph shows a flat or increasing trend, it is indicating that the
StoreOnce Backup system is falling behind, and more time should be allocated to perform
housekeeping tasks.
Jobs: show the number of new housekeeping jobs that have been received and the number
of housekeeping jobs processed within hourly sampling periods This view complements the
