HP encourages customers to recycle used electronic hardware, HP original print cartridges,
and rechargeable batteries. For more information about recycling programs, go to

Before removing the battery, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 26).
2. Remove the access panel (see Access panel on page 29).
Remove the battery:
1. Depending on the type of battery holder on the system board, complete the following instructions
to replace the battery.
2. Type 1:
a. Lift the battery out of its holder.
b. Slide the replacement battery into position, positive side up. The battery holder automatically
secures the battery in the proper position.
3. Type 2:
a. Pull back the clip (1) that is holding the battery in place.
b. Remove the battery (2).
c. Insert the new battery and position the clip back into place.
