4. Store a removed card in antistatic packaging.
5. If you are not installing a new expansion card, install an expansion slot cover to close the open slot.
CAUTION: After removing an expansion card, you must replace it with a new card or expansion
slot cover for proper cooling of internal components during operation.
6. Reverse the removal procedures to install a new expansion card. Be sure to rotate the slot cover
retention latch down into place after installation.
7. After installing an expansion card, connect external cables to the installed card and internal cables
to the system board, if needed.
8. Reassemble and reconfigure the computer, if necessary.
System board
To remove the system board, use these procedures.
NOTE: All system board spare part kits include replacement thermal material.
Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 26).
2. Remove the access panel (see Access panel on page 29).
3. Remove the CPU/memory panel (see CPU/memory panel on page 32).
4. Remove the front fan (see Front fan on page 36).
5. Remove the drive/memory fan (see Memory fan on page 40).
6. Remove the PCIe retainer panel (see PCIe retainer panel on page 49).
7. Remove the front card guide and fan (see Front card guide and fan on page 51).
Remove the system board:
1. Disconnect the following cables from the system board:

(1) Rear fan cable
(2) Front audio cable
(3) CPU0 memory power cable
(4) CPU0 heat sink cable
(5) SATA0 through SATA5 cables (6 connectors)
(6) Front card guide and fan connector
(7) Main power cable
(8) FUSB cable
(9) Memory power cable
(10) Front fan cable
