General cleaning safety precautions
Never use solvents or flammable solutions to clean the workstation.
Never immerse any component in water or cleaning solutions; apply any liquids to a clean cloth and
then use the cloth on the component.
Always unplug the workstation before cleaning the keyboard, mouse, or air vents.
Always disconnect the keyboard before cleaning it. If the keyboard has an on/off switch, turn it off
before disconnecting the keyboard.
Wear safety glasses equipped with side shields when using compressed air, to prevent dust and debris
from getting into your eyes.
Recommended cleaning products
Use the following products to safely clean your workstation:
Dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride 0.3 percent maximum concentration, usually in the form of
disposable wipes in a variety of brand names
Alcohol-free glass cleaning fluid
Water with mild soap solution
Dry microfiber cleaning cloth or a chamois (static-free cloth without oil)
Static-free cloth wipes
CAUTION: Avoid strong cleaning solvents that can permanently damage your workstation. If you are
not sure if a cleaning product is safe for your workstation, check the product contents to be sure that
ingredients such as alcohol, acetone, ammonium chloride, methylene chloride, and hydrocarbons are
not included.
Fibrous materials, such as paper towels, can scratch the workstation. Over time, dirt particles and
cleaning agents can get trapped in the scratches.
