Protection
4.1 Input Power Supply Protection
The equipment can access two –48 V/-60V DC inputs. The two DC inputs are of
mutual backup. Failure of one power supply will not affect the normal working of
the equipment.
4.2 Optical Line Protection
All channels in optical line can be protected in this way. DCP can be applied in
the protection on backbone. Optical line protection of BYPASS OP9000 is applied
in point to point networks as well as ring networks.
Optical line protection needs a backup of line link. When the working link is faulty,
the traffic is switched to the protection link, as shown in Figure 4-1.

Features: The source node feeds the traffic to both working link and protection link
and the sink node can switch to protection link if working link is faulty. This saves
equipment cost and gets stable service protection.
In normal status, the optical switches at both source node and sink node connect to
the working links. The sink node checks the optical power of the signal and switch
the protection machine when the optical power is loss or under one point value.
