Figure 3-2 Functional block diagram of DCP
Functionally a DCP board can be divided into two parts i.e. dual-fed module and
signal selection module.
Dual-fed module divides the input optical signal into two equal parts and sends to
working channel and protection channel simultaneously.
Signal selection module receives the optical signal from working channel and
protection channel simultaneously. It detects and compares the optical power of
two channels, and selects the optical signal of one channel to output.
Working Mode
There are four types of DCP board switch options, which can be selected
accordingly.
Locked switching: lock the services on the working path, no matter the
working/protection path is good or not.
Forced switching: force the services to work either on working or protection
path, no matter the working/protection path is good or not.
Automatic switching: if the working path is failed while the protection
channel is normal, services will be switched from working path to the
protection path. If both working and protection paths are failed then the
service will not be switched. If the service is transmitted on the protection
path, then the switching status is the same. The working mode can be set to
retrievable or non-retrievable modes. In retrievable mode, if the working path
is recovered and confirmed to be not faulty for a specific period, the services
will be switched back to the working path. In non-retrievable mode, if the
working path is recovered, the services will still keep on the protection path
