until fault occurs on the protection path and services are switched again to the
working fiber.
Manual switching: a user can also shift the service on any path i.e. he can use
either working or protection path as a service carrier. Manual switch is only
effective when both working and protection paths are normal.
Locked switching has the highest priority; forced switching has the second;
automatic switching and manual switching have the lowest. Now if there is some
higher level protection switching occurred, lower level switching cannot be
executed. But lower level switching can be executed, if only lower level switching
is active.
