Figure 5-6 shows a network with a fiber ring and a microwave link indirectly connected
to the ring. In this example, optical transmission systems form an STM-4 ring. The ring
adopts the protection mechanism of a two fiber bidirectional multiplex section shared
protection ring. The microwave link is connected to the ring through an STM-1 optical
interface.

5.5 Microwave Ring Networking
In this networking mode, the OptiX RTN 600 forms a microwave ring network.
Figure 5-7 shows an STM-1 microwave ring network. The ring adopts the SNCP
protection mechanism. The OptiX RTN 600 adopts 2+0 configuration.
