Miscellaneous equipment specication (MES) instructions
An IBM Elastic Storage System 5147-102 Storage Enclosure hardware change can be done by using the
MES instructions.
Upgrading an IBM Elastic Storage System 5147-102 Storage Enclosure from
a half-populated to a fully populated conguration
This non-concurrent MES procedure involves shifting down customer workload, adding 50 more HDDs
to an existing IBM Elastic Storage System 5147-102 Storage Enclosure to ll up all 102 drive slots with
HDDs, and returning the system to the customer for conguration of the new storage.
This procedure is only applicable to an IBM Elastic Storage System solution with a single half-populated
IBM Elastic Storage System 5147-102 Storage Enclosure.
