  If the internal temperature of your IBM Enclosure exceeds the preset threshold, first verify that the ambient temperature is within the acceptable range. Next, check for any airflow restrictions at the front or back of the enclosure, and inspect for dust build-up, cleaning as needed. Also, ensure there isn't excessive re-circulation of heated air from the rear to the front. Using the enclosure in a fully enclosed rack is not recommended. If the problem persists, shut down the enclosure and investigate.

What to do if my computer does not recognize the IBM 106 Enclosure system?

  If your computer isn't recognizing the IBM Enclosure system, ensure the interface cables from the enclosure to the host computer are correctly fitted. Also, verify that the LEDs on all installed drive carrier modules do not show a fault status and that the drive carrier modules have been correctly installed. Check any visible SAS indicators (controller enclosure, expansion enclosure, and HBA). Check HBA BIOS for SAS target visibility. Finally, verify that the operating system driver has been installed correctly.
