Chapter 1. About this guide
Introduction
This guide provides information about initial hardware installation and setup, as well as removal and
installation of eld-replaceable units (FRUs), customer-replaceable units (CRUs) for the IBM Elastic
Storage
®
System expansion model 106, 5147-106. The 5147-106 is a high capacity expansion enclosure
designed for use in Cloud and Enterprise environments. The 5147-106 measures 4 EAI units of rack
height (7") and ts a 1.2 m rack. It conforms to (CFF) Common Form Factor for canister bay support, and
it integrates with IBM ESS Data Server 5104-22C. The integral Cable Management Arm (CMA) allows the
enclosure to be withdrawn from the rack for servicing, while remaining connected and powered.

This guide is intended for system administrators, storage administrators and service personnel.
