6. Shift Lock - Adjust the shift lock bracket up or down so
that the shift lock engages just as the shift release occwrs
or slightly afterward. The lock should never engage be-
fore the shi ft re lease occurs. Keep j"he lock bracket ver-
tical during the adjustment.
The shift lock must be released easi Iy by depressing either
sh i ft keybutton.
7. Shi ft Interlock

a. 15 Inch Machine - With the shift interlock on the
high point of the cam, adjust the interlock by its
adjusting screw so that the tip just bottoms between
two teeth on the shift clutch ratchet (Fig. 71a).

Shift Interlock Cam - With the cycle clutch latched at
rest and the backlash of the cycle shaft and filter shaft
removed in the operating direction, advance the cam
until a
clearance of .030" to .060" exist between ~he
tip of the interlock and the top of a tooth on the shift
clutch ratchet (Fig. 72).

9. Character Lnterrupter - The character interrupter bai I
plate is adjusted in its elongated slot to satisfy 2 condi-
tions.
a. With the shift cam detented in lower case and the
cycle clutch latch link released forward, the char-
acter interrupter pawl should clear the bottom of
the link by .015" to .035" (Fig. 73A).
b. With the shift cam undetented and the cycle clutch
latched to the rear, the character interrupter pawl
should clear the front of the cycle clutch latch link
by .015" to .020". For the 767 printer adjust for
.005" to .010" (Fig. 73B).
