working. If you set the limit above where the machine is running at, and the sensor goes bad,
then the AMP reading will go over the limit and will cause a MAX AMP error. If you don’t
want to set AMP LIMITS, press the Next/No key. If you do want to see them, or set them, press
Enter/Yes and the display will show “XXX MAX AMP - 0”. The XXX is the highest AMP
value since the last LEARN cycle. The 0 is the limit, and can be set anywhere from 0 to 254.
The MAX AMP is the Peak value. You do not have to set this, but if you do, it must be above
the number on the left for that job or you will keep getting errors.
Press Enter/Yes again and the display will show “XXX MAX INT - 0”. This is the integrated
value, and the numbers have the same meanings as the previous display. This can also be set
from 0 to 254. If a number is entered it must be between 0 and 254 and it will generally be
closer to the higher number. Both steps are set by the same procedure. To pass to the next step
without setting these values, press the Next/No key.
Setting the Data Communication Parameters
The next display will show “SET DATA COMM?” This step is only used if the IMPAX unit is
to be connected to the IMPAXNET Data Communications software. The first step is to press the
Enter/Yes key. The next display will show “COMM ENABLED” or “COMM DISABLED.”
You can toggle between these two entries with the Next/No key.
If you choose Enabled, the next display will show “1200 BAUD.” At this point you can select
between 1200, 2400, 4800, and 9600 BAUD. However, it has been determined that because
IMPAX is first and foremost a process monitor and secondly a data communications node, that
the IMPAX unit will not perform any faster than 1200 BAUD. Therefore the only valid
selection is 1200 BAUD. Press the Enter/Yes key. The next display will show “UNIT CODE --
XX” where XX is the IMPAXNET Unit Identifier. This identifier can be any two digit
alphanumeric character set; for example, A1. Whatever is chosen here must be placed in the
Paradox Address Table on the personal computer which is attached to this IMPAX monitor.
Press the Enter/Yes key and the next display will show “SET RPM STOP?”
Setting the RPM Stop
This step allows the user to turn the IMPAX RPM sensor ON or OFF. RPM sense enables the
IMPAX to respond to changes in machine speed and to take user-selected action. OFF takes no
action. (T) will put the IMPAX unit into TEST mode whenever it detects a machine speed
change and (S) will STOP the machine when it detects a machine speed change.
Press the Enter/Yes key to Set the RPM Stop. The screen will now display “RPM SENSE OFF”
or “RPM SENSE ON (T)” or “RPM SENSE ON (S).” You may toggle between these three
selections with the Next/No key. When you have selected the desired entry, press the Enter/Yes
key. The next display is “SET TEST COUNT?”
