10. In the image window in the calibration dialog, drag the dotted center line so that it is
in the center of the dot matrix pattern.
11. Draw a box around the area of the dot matrix that you want to calibrate. The border
of the box displays green.
If you are using the 6mm lens, draw the box so that it includes both calibration bars.
12. Select Calibrate.
13. When calibration is complete, the calibration status updates and a yellow box
appears indicating the region in the field of view that generates the highest accuracy.
You should ensure that the dots defining the gauge length on each specimen are
within this yellow box at the start of each test.
14. Select OK to accept the calibration and close the calibration dialog.
15. Remove the calibration bar from the grips.
The strain transducers for the video extensometer are now calibrated.
Non-integrated testing systems
This section describes the following systems:
• 8800 and ElectroPuls using the 8800T or 8800D controller
• Other non-integrated testing systems, including non-Instron
When using the 8800T or 8800D controller, the AVE2 or SVE2 is intended for strain
monitoring only. It is not suitable for use as the controlling channel when conducting a
test in strain control.
The following tables list the connections, requirements and configuration details for
each testing system operating with Bluehill
®
.
Table 18. 8800 and ElectroPuls systems using the 8800T or 8800D controller
Connections Axial connection to an analog SCM on the controller via a BNC
adapter cable. Transverse connection requires an additional
SCM and adapter cable. Calibration via the ±10V signal.
Software requirements Requires Bluehill
