7.1Controlsprotectionsystem
Thescootercontrolsisttedwithanoverloadprotection.
Ifthedriveisseverelyoverloadedoveralongperiodoftime
(forexample,whendrivingupasteephill)andespecially
whentheambienttemperatureishigh,theelectronicsystem
couldoverheat.Inthiscasethescooterperformanceis
graduallyreduceduntilitcomestoahalt.Thestatusdisplay
showsacorrespondingerrorcode(referto11.1.2Errorcodes
anddiagnosticcodes,page57).Byswitchingthepower
supplyoffandbackonagain,theerrorcodeisclearedand
thecontrolsisswitchedbackon.Itcanhowevertakeupto
veminutesuntilthecontrolshascooleddownenoughfor
thedrivetorestorefullperformanceagain.
Ifthedriveisstalledbyaninsurmountableobstacle,for
example,acurborsimilarwhichistoohigh,andthedriver
attemptsdrivingformorethan20secondsagainstthis
obstacle,thecontrolsautomaticallyswitchesofftoprevent
themotorsfrombeingdamaged.Thestatusdisplayshows
acorrespondingerrorcode(referto11.1.2Errorcodesand
diagnosticcodes,page57
).Byswitchingoffandbackon
again,theerrorcodeisclearedandthecontrolsisswitched
backon.
7.1.1Themainfuse
Theentireelectricalsystemisprotectedagainstoverload
bytwomainfuses.Themainfusesaremountedonthe
positivebatterycables.
Adefectivemainfusemaybereplacedonlyafter
checkingtheentireelectricalsystem.Aspecialized

7.2Batteries
Powerissuppliedbytwo12Vbatteries.Thebatteriesare
maintenance-freeandonlyneedregularcharging.
Inthefollowing,youndinformationonhowtocharge,
handle,transport,store,maintain,andusebatteries.
7.2.1Generalinformationoncharging
Newbatteriesshouldalwaysbefullychargedoncebefore
theirrstuse.Newbatterieswillbeattheirfullcapacity
afterhavingrunthroughapprox.10-20chargingcycles
(break-inperiod).Thisbreak-inperiodisnecessaryto
fullyactivatethebatteryformaximumperformanceand
longevity.Thus,rangeandrunningtimeofyourmobility
devicecouldinitiallyincreasewithuse.
Gel/AGMleadacidbatteriesdonothaveamemoryeffect
asNiCdbatteries.
7.2.2Generalinstructionsoncharging
Followtheinstructionslistedbelowtoensuresafeuseand
longevityofthebatteries:
