7.3HumidifierCleaningandThermic
Disinfection
Cleananddisinfecttheoxygenhumidifierdailytoreduce
limestonedepositsandeliminatepossiblebacterial
contamination.Followtheinstructionsprovidedbythe
manufacturer.Ifnoneareprovided,followthesesteps:
1.Washhumidifierinsoapywaterandrinsewithasolutionoften
partswaterandonepartvinegar.
2.Rinsethoroughlywithhotwater.
3.Airdrythoroughly.
Tolimitbacterialgrowth,airdrythehumidifierthoroughly
aftercleaningwhennotinuse.RefertoSetUpforuse.
7.4CleaningandDisinfectionBetweenPatients

–Onlyqualifiedpersonnelshouldperformcleaning
anddisinfectionoftheoxygenconcentratorand
accessoriesbetweenpatients.
Followtheseinstructionstoeliminatepossiblepathogen
exchangebetweenpatientsduetocontaminationof
componentsoraccessories.PreventiveMaintenanceshould
alsobeperformedatthistimeifnecessary.
1.Disposeofandreplaceallpatientsideaccessoriesnotsuitable
formultiplepatientuse,includingbutnotlimitedto:
•NasalCannulaandTubing
•Mask
•Humidifier
2.Performmaintenanceproceduresdescribedinthismanualand
itemsonPreventiveMaintenanceChecklist
3.Checkconcentratorforpossibleexternaldamageorsignsthatit
mayrequireserviceorrepair.
4.Ensureconcentratorfunctionsproperlyandallalarmsarein
workingorder.
5.Beforerepackaginganddistributiontonewpatient,ensure
packagingcontentscontaintheconcentrator,powercord,air
inletscoop,assemblyinstructions,humidifier,cannula,labels
andusermanual.
