Dismantling (cont’d)
60 Install two eyebolts (see Special Tools (B), Section 1)
diametrically opposite one another into the tapped holes
in spindle 2.
Use a hoist to lift the spindle clear of hub 1.
Remove floating seal 31, the three taper roller bearings
22 and oil seal 132.
61 Remove distance piece 10 from hub 1.
62 Remove 'O' ring 28 from hub 1 and discard.
63 To prevent the possibility of damaging crankshaft
9/reduction gears 4 and 5 assemblies, place below the
bench a container lined with a rubber mat or similar.
To remove outer bearing 21 from hub 1, hit the end face
of pins 17 with a hammer A and pin punch B at three or
four points around the circumference of the hub. When
the bearing comes out it will drop into the container
along with the crankshaft/reduction gear assemblies and
the pins.
Retrieve the bearing, the crankshaft/reduction gear
assemblies and the pins. Do not dismantle the
crankshaft/reduction gear assemblies.
