Why does my Jet Sander motor overload?
- SStacey MitchellAug 21, 2025
The motor overload protector might trip, or the shop wiring breaker could trip because there's an excessive load on the sanding drum and motor. Allow the motor to cool, then reset the overload button. It could also happen if there are too many tools on the circuit, so connect the sander to a dedicated circuit or have a certified electrician correct any shop wiring problems. Another cause could be an extension cord that's too long or not heavy gauge enough; use a shorter or heavier gauge extension cord.
