1.10. Specifications of each unit
1.10.1. Protective Capsule Unit: PCU (NDH-316)
(1) Function:
The protective capsule unit (PCU) records navigation data, hull data, conversation in the bridge, conversation over VHF
radio, and radar image data to the recording medium in the PCU.
When submerged, the Underwater Acoustic Beacon with PCU, which is a battery-powered, transmits a pulsed acoustic
signal for capsule searchers.

There shall be neither the damage of the final record media nor the loss of recorded data under the conditions shown
below.
a) Shock: A half sine-wave pulse of 50G, with an interval of 11msec
b) Penetration: A mass of 250 kg with a pin of 100mm diameter, dropped from 3m
c) Fire: 10 hours with 260 °C fire
1 hour with 1100 °C fire
d) Deep-sea water pressure: 60 Mpa
