Overview

The KD686 is an intelligent color display designed for e-bikes, offering a comprehensive range of functions and user-friendly features. It serves as the central interface for monitoring and controlling various aspects of the e-bike system.

Function Description

The KD686 display provides intelligent indications for a variety of parameters, including:

  • Battery Status: Displays battery voltage value or percentage.
  • Ride Data: Shows TRIP distance, ODO (odometer), current speed, maximum speed, average speed, and TRIP time.
  • Motor Power: Indicates the current motor power output.
  • Assist Level: Allows selection and indication of the assist level.
  • Push-Assist Mode: Provides control and indication for the push-assist function.
  • Backlight and Headlight: Manages backlight ON/OFF and headlight icon indication.

Usage Features

General Operation:

  • Switching ON/OFF: Hold the "on/off" button to power on or off the e-bike system. The system automatically switches off after 5 minutes of inactivity.
  • Display Interface Cycle: Press the "on/off" button to cycle through ODO, Max Speed, AVG Speed, and Trip time.
  • Push-Assist Mode: Hold the "-" button for 2 seconds to activate push-assist, which propels the e-bike at a uniform speed of 6 Km/h. Releasing the button deactivates the mode.
  • Light Sensor and Manual Lighting Control: The display's light sensor automatically turns the backlight and bike headlight ON/OFF based on ambient light. Users can manually override this by holding the "+" button for over 2 seconds to toggle the headlight ON/OFF.
  • Assist Level Adjustment: Press the "+" or "-" buttons to change the motor assist level, ranging from 0 (zero power) to 5 (maximum power). The default is level 1.

Settings: To access settings, hold both the "+" and "-" buttons for 2 seconds.

  • Trip Reset: Clears trip distance, Max Speed, AVG Speed, and Trip time. Select Yes/No with "+/-" and confirm with "on/off".
  • Toggle Unit: Switches between Metric and Imperial units.
  • Wheel Diameter: Adjusts the wheel diameter setting.
  • Speed Limit: Sets the speed limit between 12-40 km/h.
  • Set Voltage: Configures the voltage power bar values (5 bars) for 36V or 48V systems. The default voltage is 36V.
  • SOC View: Changes the battery display method between voltage values and percentage.
  • AL Sensitivity: Adjusts the light sensor sensitivity (01 to 05).
  • Assist Level Settings (Power Set): Selects one of 8 assist level modes (e.g., 0-3, 1-5, 0-9). The default is 0-5.
  • Assist Level Ratio Settings: Adjusts the percentage ratio for each assist level.
  • Current Limit: Sets the controller current limit.
  • Assistant Num: Configures the number of magnets in the PAS sensor (04, 09, 12, 24, 32).
  • Speed Sensor: Adjusts speed sensor settings (01 to 12 magnets).
  • Slow Start: Configures the slow start-up setting (0-3, where 3 is the slowest).
  • LCD Luminance: Adjusts display backlight brightness (100%-10%).
  • Password Setting: Enables, disables, and changes a power-on password. The default is disabled.

Password Management:

  • Enable Password: In "Start PassWord" interface, select 'ON', confirm with "on/off", then input a 4-digit password using "+/-" and "on/off" for each digit. Re-enter to confirm.
  • Change Password: If enabled, select 'Reset password', input the current password, then set a new one.
  • Disable Password: In "Start PassWord" interface, select 'OFF', confirm with "on/off", then input the current password.

Maintenance Features

  • Error Code Indication: The system continuously monitors components and displays error codes (e.g., 21: Current fault, 22: Throttle fault, 23: Motor phase absence, 24: Motor hall signal fault, 25: Brake fault, 30: Communication fault, 31: Display MOSFET short circuited, 32: on/off button is stuck, 33: - button is stuck, 34: Over voltage) in the text indication area to help diagnose and repair faults.
  • Factory Settings Reset: Hold the "+" and "on/off" buttons for 2 seconds to enter the factory settings page. Select YES with "+/-" and hold "on/off" for 2 seconds to reset the display to default settings.

Warnings:

  • Use the display with caution.
  • Do not connect or disconnect the connector when the battery is powered on.
  • Avoid hitting the display.
  • Do not modify system parameters to prevent parameter disorder.
  • Have the display repaired when error codes appear.

Quality Assurance and Warranty Scope:

  • Warranty Period: 24 months after shipment or delivery to customers, valid under normal usage conditions.
  • Exclusions: Warranty does not cover demolished displays, damage from wrong installation or operation, broken display shell (if not factory-related), broken wires, damage due to force majeure (e.g., fire, earthquake), or issues beyond the warranty period.
