Chapter 5 Troubleshooting

A.
COMPRESSOR WILL
NOT START
Main switch open.
Close switch.
Fuse blown. Circuit breakers
open.
Check electrical circuits and motor
winding for shorts Investigate for
possible over-loading. Replace fuse
or reset breakers after fault is
corrected.
Thermal overloads tripped.
Overloads are auto reset. Check
unit closely when unit comes back
on line.
Defective contactor or coil.
Repair or replace
System shut down on safety.
Determine type and cause of
shutdown and correct it before
restart.
No Load.
Wait until unit calls for cooling /
load.
Liquid line expansion valve has
not operated.
Repair or replace motor.
Loose wiring.
Check all wire junctions. Tighten
terminal screws.
