Clearing Paper Jams in the ADF
If a paper jam occurs in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), the jam is often the result of loading torn
documents, documents with thin paper, or documents that are creased or curled on the edge going into the
feeder. For information on how to prepare documents for scanning with the ADF, see
Document
Preparation” on page 50. If you have difficulty when scanning documents with the ADF, use the flatbed.
If a paper jam occurs, remove the jammed sheet or sheets using one or both of the following procedures:
Removing Paper Jams from the Document Feeder
Caution
Do not attempt to pull out jammed paper with the ADF door closed. This action may damage the
document.
Push the ADF door release button to open the ADF door.
