The device is factory adjusted, but can also be readjusted by the customer.
For this, the reference substances vanillin, phenacetin, sulfanilamide and caffeine can
be used.
The adjustment can be done individually for each reference substance. The reference
substances can be purchased from A. KRÜSS Optronic.
4. Adjustment with reference substances

4.1 Preparation
Measure the reference substance using the M5000 and
note the melting points.
4.2 Calibration
• Turn the device on.
• Press the button time set.
• Then press the button start.
The display shows:

• Use the arrow keys to set the number to 88.
The display shows:

entry: 88
• Press the button start.
The display shows:
Vanillin
detected: 82.4*
* Please note that due to the factory calibration, a
slightly different value for the melting point may be
displayed.
• Press the button start.
A blinking cursor is displayed.
• Use the arrow keys to set the melting point of vanillin,
which you determined in preparation for the
adjustment.
• Save the new adjustment value by pressing the button
start.
The blinking cursor disappeared.
• Select the next substance with the button down (-).
