Youdonothavetosetanypasswordstouseyourcomputer.However,usingpasswordsimproves
computingsecurity.
Windowspasswords
DependingonyourversionoftheWindowsoperatingsystem,youcanusepasswordsforavarietyof
features,includingcontrollingloginaccess,accesstosharedresources,networkaccess,andindividualuser

Conguringthengerprintreader
Ifyourkeyboardhasangerprintreader,youcancongurethengerprintreaderintheSetupUtilityprogram.
TheFingerprintSetupsubmenuundertheSecuritymenuoftheSetupUtilityprogramprovidesthe
followingoptions:
•PrebootAuthentication:enablesordisablesthengerprintauthenticationforaccessingtheBIOS.
•EraseFingerprintData:clearsthengerprintdatastoredinangerprintreader.
Tocongurethengerprintreader,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage115.
2.FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectSecurity➙FingerprintSetup,andpressEnter.
TheFingerprintSetupwindowopens.
3.SelectPrebootAuthenticationorEraseFingerprintDataasdesired,andpressEnter.
4.SelectthedesiredsettingsandpressEnter.
5.PressF10tosavechangesandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.PressEnterwhenpromptedtoconrm
theexit.
