Solution:Youcannotchargethebatterywhenitistoohot.Ifthebatteryfeelshot,removeitfromthe
computerandallowittocooltoroomtemperature.Afteritcools,reinstallitandrechargethebattery.Ifit
stillcannotbecharged,haveitserviced.
ThissystemdoesnotsupportbatteriesthatarenotgenuineLenovo-madeorauthorized.Thesystemwill
continuetoboot,butmaynotchargeunauthorizedbatteries.
Attention:Lenovohasnoresponsibilityfortheperformanceorsafetyofunauthorizedbatteries,and
providesnowarrantiesforfailuresordamagearisingoutoftheiruse.
Anacpoweradapterproblem
Problem:Theacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputerandtheworkingelectricaloutlet,butthe
poweradapter(powerplug)iconisnotdisplayedonthetaskbar.Alsotheacpowerindicatordoesnot
lightup.
Solution:Dothefollowing:
1.Makesurethattheconnectionoftheacpoweradapteriscorrect.Forinstructionsonconnectingtheac
poweradapter,seeSafety,Warranty,andSetupGuidethatcomeswithyourcomputer.
2.Iftheconnectionoftheacpoweradapteriscorrect,turnoffthecomputer,thendisconnecttheacpower
adapterandremovethemainbattery.
3.Reinstallthebatteryandreconnecttheacpoweradapter,thenturnonthecomputer.
4.Ifthepoweradaptericonstilldoesnotappearonthetaskbarandtheacpowerindicatordoesnotlight
up,havetheacpoweradapterandyourcomputerserviced.
Note:Todisplaythepoweradapter(powerplug)icon,clickthetriangularicononthetaskbar.
Powerproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourcomputerisgettingnopoweratall,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Verifythepowerbutton.Referto“Statusindicators”onpage7.Thepowerbuttonisilluminated
wheneverthecomputerison.
2.Checkallpowerconnections.Removeanypowerstripsandsurgeprotectorstoconnecttheacpower
adapterdirectlytotheacpoweroutlet.
3.Inspecttheacpoweradapter.Checkforanyphysicaldamage,andmakesurethatthepowercableis
rmlyattachedtotheadapterbrickandthecomputer.
4.Verifytheacpowersourceisworkingbyattachinganotherdevicetotheoutlet.
5.RemovethecomputerfromaThinkPadUltraBaseSeries3.Referto“ThinkPadUltraBaseSeries3”
onpage95.
Removealldevicesandthentestforsystempowerwithminimaldevicesattached.
a.Disconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
b.Closethecomputerdisplay,andturnthecomputerover.
c.Removethebattery,memorymodule,PCIExpressMiniCards,harddiskdriveorsolid-statedriveor
mSATAsolid-statedrive.SeeChapter6“Replacingdevices”onpage71.
d.Waitfor30seconds,andthenreinstallthememorymoduleandtheknowngoodbatteryortheac
poweradaptertotestthecomputerwithminimaldevicesattachedrst.
e.Reinstalleachdeviceoneatatimethatyouhaveremovedintheearliersteps.
