problemsthatmightoccurintheserver.Ifyourserverproblemisnotdescribedhere,see“Helpandservice”
onpage100foradditionaltroubleshootingresources.
Troubleshootingprocedure
Usethefollowinginformationasageneralprocedurefordiagnosingandtroubleshootingproblemsyou
experiencewithyourserver:
1.Verifythatthepowercordsandthecablesforallattacheddevicesareconnectedcorrectlyandsecurely.
2.Verifythattheserverandallattacheddevicesthatrequireacpowerareconnectedtoproperlygrounded,
functioningelectricaloutlets.
3.VerifythatallinstalledhardwareandattacheddevicesareenabledintheBIOSsettingsofyourserver.
FormoreinformationaboutaccessingandchangingtheBIOSsettings,see“UsingtheSetupUtility
program”onpage23.
4.Iftheserverisnotworkingafteryouhaveaddednewsoftware,installedanewoptionaldevice,or
replacedapieceofhardware,removeorreinstallthesoftwareordevicetoseeiftheproblemcould
besolved.
5.TurnontheserverandpressEscassoonasyouseethelogoscreentoviewanydiagnosticmessages.
6.Downloadanduseadiagnosticprogramtodiagnoseproblems.See“Usingadiagnosticprogram”
onpage93.
7.Referto“Basictroubleshootingtables”onpage94andfollowtheinstructionsforthetypeofproblem
youareexperiencing.Ifthebasictroubleshootinginformationdoesnothelpyouresolveaproblem,
continuewiththenextstep.
8.Tryusingapreviouslyserverconfigurationtoseeifarecentchangetohardwareorsoftwaresettingshas
causedaproblem.Beforerestoringyourpreviousconfiguration,captureyourcurrentconfigurationin
casetheolderconfigurationsettingsdonotsolvetheproblemorhaveadverseeffect.
9.Useanantivirusprogramtoseeifyourserverhasbeeninfectedbyavirus.Iftheprogramdetectsa
virus,removethevirus.
10.Ifnoneoftheseactionssolvetheproblem,seektechnicalassistance.SeeChapter8“Getting
information,help,andservice”onpage99.

Touseadiagnosticprogram,dothefollowing:
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/driversandfollowtheinstructionsontheWebpagetolocateadiagnostic
program.
2.Downloadandunzipthediagnosticprogrampackagetogetthediagnosticprogrampackagefolder.
3.OpenthediagnosticprogrampackagefolderandruntheQTW.exefile.
4.Selectthelanguagewhenprompted.Then,clickContinue.
5.ReadtheEndUserLicenseAgreement(EULA)termscarefullyandclickAccepttostarttheprogram.
