Step 1.  Start the server.
Step 2.  When you see <F1> Setup, press F1 to open up the Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager V3
Step 3.  Go to LXPM V3 ➙ UEFI Setup ➙ BMC Settings to specify how the Lenovo XClarity Controller will 
connect to the network. 
•  If you choose a static IP connection, make sure that you specify an IPv4 or IPv6 address that is 
available on the network.
•  If you choose a DHCP connection, make sure that the MAC address for the server has been 
configured in the DHCP server.
Step 4.  Click OK to continue starting the server.
Set the front USB 2.0 connector for Lenovo XClarity Controller 
connection
Your server come with a front USB 3.0 connector (also called XClarity Controller USB connector) that you 
can use as a Lenovo XClarity Controller management connection. See “Front panel” on page 21 for the 
location of this connector. Before you can access the Lenovo XClarity Controller through this USB 
connector, you need to configure this connector for Lenovo XClarity Controller connection.
You can switch this USB connector between normal and Lenovo XClarity Controller management operation 
by performing one of the following steps.
•  From the Lenovo XClarity Controller management controller CLI, run the usbfp command. For information

Update the firmware
Several options are available to update the firmware for the server.
You can use the tools listed here to update the most current firmware for your server and the devices that are 
installed in the server.  
Note: Lenovo typically releases firmware in bundles called UpdateXpress System Packs (UXSPs). To ensure 
that all of the firmware updates are compatible, you should update all firmware at the same time. If you are 
updating firmware for both the Lenovo XClarity Controller and UEFI, update the firmware for Lenovo XClarity 
Controller first.
