  Some HDMI-compatible devices do not output sounds (check the manual that came with the connected device). If your TV is not capable of handling 96 kHz sampling frequency, set the [Sampling Freq.] option to [48 kHz] on the setup menu. If your TV is not equipped with Dolby Digital and MPEG decoder, set the [Dolby Digital] and [MPEG] options to [PCM] on the setup menu. If your TV is not equipped with DTS decoder, set the [DTS] options to [OFF] on the setup menu.

  Finalize the disc. Check the disc compatibility of the player. Ensure the disc is placed correctly on the disc tray inside the guide. Discs recorded with copy-once material cannot be played on other players.

  The clock may not be set to the correct time. The start time of the timer recording may be in the past. Two timer recordings may have overlapped, in which case only the earlier one will record completely. When setting the recording channel, make sure you set the unit’s built-in tuner, not the TV’s built-in tuner. If the inserted disc is damaged, the recording may not complete successfully. To operate Timer Record using IR control, the connected Cable Box or Satellite Box must be turned on.

  Try disconnecting then reconnecting the HDMI cable. Also, try switching the power of the HDMI device off then back on. Ensure that the video input of the connected device is set correctly for this unit and that the HDMI cable you are using is fully HDMI-compliant, as using a non-standard cable may result in no picture being output. Note that not all HDCP-compatible DVI devices will work with this unit.

  The video heads may be dirty; clean them using a video head cleaning cassette. If the cleaning cassette is not available in your area, have the heads cleaned at your nearest dealer (a standard service fee will be charged). Do not use a commercially available liquid type cleaning cassette, as it may damage the video heads. In some cases, the video heads may need to be replaced; consult your local dealer for more information. The tape could also be defective.

  Check the remaining space on the disc. If your source is copy-protected, you cannot record it. Use a VR mode formatted disc for copy-once material. The power may have failed during recording. In DVD mode, you cannot record the rated digital program, no signal, audio only, or scrambled program. If you set a DTV rating for the unit and higher rated digital programs are received, the program cannot be recorded.

  Make sure you have inserted a playable disc, with the playback side down, and placed correctly on the disc tray inside the guide. Clean the disc if necessary. Also, try to cancel the Rating function or change the rating level.
