Repairing the oil pump

Clamp the oil pump in a vice (use protective jaws).
Remove the oil pump cover.

Pull the follower oil pump gear out of the housing.
Check gears and pump housing for wear.

Remove the oil pump drive gear.
To do this, lay the pump on a suitable surface and
press off the drive gear with a mandrel.
To install, place the drive gear on the shaft, sup-
porting the opposite shaft end in the process.
Press on the drive wheel, observing the prescribed
gap (see “Service Data”).

Fit the cover.
Tighten the securing bolts with the prescribed tor-
que.
Grind or replace covers with residues.
