Removing exhaust manifold

Loosen the securing bolts of the exhaust manifold.
Danger:
The exhaust manifold is heavy!
Before unscrewing all securing bolts, if appropriate
replace 2 bolts by stud bolts as guides.
The stud bolts with thread M10 have been produ-
ced by MAN.
The exhaust-gas pipe can be removed with the
exhaust manifold attached.
Remove the heat shields.

Before fitting the exhaust manifold, screw in 2 stud
bolts as a guide.
Bolt guard plate and exhaust manifold together,
inserting new gaskets between guard plate and
exhaust manifold (bead must face guard plate).

Position the exhaust manifold with new gaskets.
Ensure that the gaskets are correctly seated.
Tighten the mounting bolts to specified torque (see
Service Data”).
D Install the turbocharger.
