BOOM RT770E SERVICE MANUAL

Recovery Mode
The recovery mode operates similar to the manual mode, but
requires no sensors, only inputs from the cab switches. The
operator can extend and retract, but this mode should only
be used if Auto and Manual modes are not functional. When
operating in recovery mode, the control system does not
maintain the position of the section that is not being moved
(example: when Tele 1 is extended, Tele 2 will retract slightly;
and when Tele 1 is retracted, Tele 2 will extend slightly).
Boom Control System Features
Jib Rigging
This jib rigging feature prevents the extension of Tele 2 when
erecting the jib, and limits the Tele 1 from extending past the
anti-rotation features on the base section. The jib rigging
state is entered when the stop block is disengaged (pulled
down from the base section), and Tele 1 is retracted to align
the boom extension mounting holes. When the control
system detects a length less than the fully retracted length
with the stop block engaged, the jib rigging state is activated.
When jib rigging is active, Tele 2 is prevented from extending
(retract is allowed). Tele 1 can extend enough to pull the jib
from the hangers on the base. Once the jib is fully pinned,
the operator must fully retract against the engaged stop
block to exit the jib rigging mode and resume normal
operation.
Anti-Thermal Contraction
With this feature, the control system maintains a positive
pressure in the big piston of the telescope cylinder while
booming up. This prevents Tele 2 from drifting back after the
hydraulic fluid has cooled with the Tele 2 extended at a low
angle.
