Chapter 2: Maintenance Procedures
This chapter covers how to properly clean and perform maintenance procedures on NomoLine
ISA devices.
WARNING: Electrical shock and flammability hazard. Before cleaning the NomoLine ISA
device, always ensure that the device is disconnected from the host device.
CAUTION: Do not autoclave, pressure sterilize, or gas sterilize the NomoLine ISA device.
CAUTION: Do not soak or immerse the NomoLine ISA device in any liquid.
CAUTION: Use the cleaning solution sparingly. Allow unit to air dry. Excessive solution can
flow into the NomoLine ISA device and cause damage to internal components.
CAUTION: Do not touch, press, or rub the display panels with abrasive cleaning compounds,
instruments, brushes, rough-surface materials, or bring them into contact with anything that
could scratch the panel.
CAUTION: Do not use petroleum-based or acetone solutions, or other harsh solvents, to clean
the NomoLine ISA device. These substances attack the device’s materials and device failure
can result.
Cleaning
Cleaning of the ISA device should be performed at regular intervals or in accordance with
hospital, as well as local and governmental regulations.

WARNING: To avoid electric shock, always physically disconnect the ISA device and all
patient connections before cleaning.
CAUTION: To avoid permanent damage to the ISA device, do not use undiluted bleach (5% -
5.25% sodium hypochlorite) or any other cleaning solution not recommended.
Note: To prevent cleaning liquids and dust from entering the NomoLine capnography gas
analyzer through its sampling gas inlet connector, keep the sampling line fitted while
cleaning the ISA device.
NomoLine ISA CO2
The surfaces of the NomoLine ISA CO
2
device may be cleaned with the following solution(s):
• 70% ethyl alcohol
• 70% isopropyl alcohol
• Glutaraldehyde Solution
• Quaternary Ammonium Chloride Wipe
• 0.5% Sodium Hypochlorite/Water Solution
• Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide
