ittostartuntilthefireishot(abouttenminutesfromcoldonhighfire)andwillkeepitrunningafter
thefiregoesout.Thehandpiecewillnotstartthefanduringthewarm-upperiod,butitcanpre-select
thespeedatwhichthefanwillstartoncethefireboxishot.
NOTE:Occasionallytheelectricalsystemmay‘lockup’.Turningoffthemainssupplyfortenseconds
willclearthis.
TURNINGTHEFIREOFF:-
ACCMODELS:-
• Push down and turn the control to the ‘PILOT’ position. Alternatively, models fitted with wall
mountedorportablethermostatsmaybeshutdownatthethermostat.Thepilotwillremainalight.
•Ifthefanisrunning,itwillstopafterthefireboxhascooled.
•Toextinguishthepilotlight,pressthePILOTcontrolknobpartwaydownandturnitfullyclockwise.
ECSMODELS:-
•Tostopthefireimmediately,presstheTOPbuttononthehandpieceonceorpressthesmallbuttonby
thereceiver(onthepedestalfoot)once.Theindicatorlightbythereceiverwillextinguish,thefireand
pilotlightwillshutdownandthefanwillstop.Alternatively,turningoffthemainsplugswitchor
movingtheslideswitchonthewallthermostatawayfrom‘HEAT’willextinguishthefire.
•Tostopthefireafteradelayofabout30minutes,presstheBOTTOMbuttononthehandpiece.The
indicatorlightbesidethereceiverwillstartflashingandeventuallythefirewillshutdown.Pressingthe
delayed stop button again during the shutting down period will restore the heater to normal
continuousoperation.
RECEIVERSWITCHPOSITIONS(ACCmodels)
Thereceiverswitchhasthreepositions,‘OFF’,‘ON’and‘REMOTE’.
‘OFF’preventsthemainburnerfrombeinglit.Thisisausefulsafetyfeatureifchildrenmightplaywiththe
remotecontrol.
‘ON’bypassestheremotecontrolentirely,allowingtheheatertobeliteventhoughthebatteriesinthe
receiverorremotecontrolaredead,or,inthecaseoftheRMTmodel,ifthemainspowersupplyhas
failed.InthissettingthethermostatisinactiveandtheheatoutputisfixedonLOWforRMTmodels.It
maybecontrolledmanuallyonallothermodels.
‘REMOTE’bringstheremotecontrolintofulloperation,allowingitsin-builtthermostattomatchheat
outputtotheheatingneedsoftheareatheremotecontrolisin,providedthattheremotecontrolisleft
pointingtowardtheheater.Forautomaticheatcontrol withRMTmodels, the remotecontrolmustbe
‘ON’inthe‘AUTO’mode. Theremote control canbe set to automatically runtheheater withinany
desiredtimeperiod.Seetheseparateremotecontroloperatinginstructionsforfulldetails.
CLEANINGINSTRUCTIONS
Theoutsideofthecabinetandglassshouldneednomorethananoccasionalwipewithadampclothto
removeanydustwhichmayhavesettled.
Allvisibleflamegasheaterscanproducesmallamountsofsoot,particularlyifthecombustionairentry
slotsundertheheaterareobstructedortheaerationairinletsarecloggedwithlint.
Afteratime,theinsideoftheglassmayrequirecleaning.Todothis,carefullyremovetheglass(See
GlassRemovalandAssembly,page11),andcleantheinsidesurfacewithanon-abrasiveclothandanon-
scratchingtypehouseholdcleaningliquid.Replacethepartsasdetailedonpage117,keepingfingerprints
offtheinsideglasssurface.
