How to clean dark, dirty film on Masport mystique Indoor Fireplace door glass?
    • R
      Robert HahnAug 2, 2025
To prevent a dark, dirty film from forming on your Masport Indoor Fireplace door glass, ensure you're using only dry, seasoned wood with a moisture content of 25% or less. Also, check the door and glass seals for leaks. To remove existing film: * Burn with the damper open for 30 minutes. * When the fire has completely cooled, clean the glass with a damp newspaper and ash. * As an alternative, use a non-caustic oven cleaner. Avoid steel wool or abrasive materials, as they can scratch the glass and damage any printing on it.

Why does my Masport mystique have poor performance and smoke entering the room?
    • J
      Jeremy Lang PhDAug 9, 2025
If your Masport Indoor Fireplace is performing poorly, or smoke is entering the room, it might be due to extreme negative pressure in your house. Modern airtight houses can create negative pressure when large extraction fans are operating, counteracting the flue system's draft and starving the fire of air. To address this, open a window approximately 6mm to allow combustion air to enter the room.

What to do if there are puffs of smoke when loading fuel in my Masport mystique Indoor Fireplace?
    • S
      stephaniewadeAug 18, 2025
Occasional puffs of smoke entering the room while loading fuel into your Masport Indoor Fireplace may be due to insufficient flue draft caused by inadequate flue height relative to your roofline, nearby trees, or other high obstacles, potentially causing a downdraft. On the Mystique burner, the mechanical interlock prevents opening the top combustion door unless the damper is open. After switching the damper handle from the 'OPEN' to 'CLOSE' position, wait 30~45 seconds before opening the top combustion chamber door. An experienced installer may need to extend your flue height or fit an anti-downdraft flue cowl to resolve this issue, especially when the wind comes from a particular direction.

Why is the downdraft flame pulsing in my Masport mystique?
    • L
      lindasimonAug 26, 2025
If the downdraft flame in your Masport Indoor Fireplace is pulsing or puffing when the damper is switched to the 'CLOSE' position, it's likely happening when starting the burner from cold, or there aren't enough embers around the downdraft injector. To fix this, open the damper for 1-2 minutes and then close it. Alternatively, open the damper and the top combustion chamber door, then use a rake to level the ember bed, ensuring good embers are around the downdraft injector.
